V is for voicemail.
You told me you loved me and I said nothing in return, then Oh my God I ruined everything when my continuing silence smothered the air from your lungs. I tried to assure you that it was just the timing of the proclamation which gave me pause, three words seemingly plucked at random from the empty space between us, but in truth you did ruin everything. Your exuberance made me second-guess my instincts, the plot you wove made me forget myself. And so days later I lied to you, left a message I never should have left. If I could take it back I would, if not for you, well, certainly for me.

Really, if no one ever told anyone they loved them, all these problems would be avoided.
ReplyDeleteIt's bad when you're the liar, but worse when you're the one being lied to.
yeah, i pretty much suck.
ReplyDeleteI blame voicemail.
ReplyDeleteCell phones, in general, are sort of the devil.
ReplyDeleteCell phones, email, IM, it's all the same and they're all tools in the devil's workshop. Except when they're not.
ReplyDeleteBesides which, I already told you boys are dumb. So that explains why they make us crazy. It's no one's fault really, it just is.
